Hellenic Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy: E-Charter permission platform launched

On the 29th of December 2023, the electronic platform / application was put into production and made available for use with which the “Permit to charter a commercial recreational vessel, recognized under the law of another country, for a certain amount of time” will be issued electronically. The application concerns professional recreational vessels, under a foreign flag over 35 meters long, which are granted the right to operate in Greece.

Specifically, it was implemented by Cytech for the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, it is called “e-Charter Permission” and operates on the website https://echarter.yna.gov.gr. The application marks another step in yachting’s transition to the digital age and the opening of the market.

The application was implemented with simplicity in mind to facilitate the activity of yachting in Greece. Also, through its operation, it will be possible to record, to monitor and control the actual activity of the ships concerned by the specific service.

According to the Ministry of Shipping, the release of the forces of marine tourism will contribute decisively to the development of domestic yachting, to the multiplication of jobs and in general to the economic development of the country.

As mentioned in a recent announcement, this is also a primary goal of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy through the General Secretariat of Shipping and Ports, as part of the national maritime development strategy.
